Snow Day

It snowed like crazy today, so we didn't leave the house. Staying home all day with a two year old and a two month old makes for a very long day, especially when the day begins before 6 am and Mommy doesn't get a nap.

Brynn decided not to sleep longer than 20 minutes at a time all day today and totally wore me out. She would get very grumpy because she was so tired, so she would eat to pacify herself. Then she'd get too full and spit up all over me. Repeat that sequence, oh about, 20 times or so, and you have our entire day- well, except for the parts of the day where the electricty went out while Benson was in the bathtub and when he wet his pants.

Luckily, Daddy saved the day when he came home with Rudy's for dinner and then played in the snow with Benson. Those two are so cute together. The snow was too slushy to build a snowman, so they made snow angels and lit fireworks in the back yard. (Just an FYI- smoke bombs in the snow actually work pretty well.)

I finally got Brynn to sleep and in her crib, so I've got my fingers crossed that she'll sleep all the way through Project Runway. A fun side note- Brynn gave me the biggest smile on Sunday after I fed her. It was so cute- she just grinned at me and then gave me a little smirk a couple of seconds later. Mark claims she's smiled at him before, but I contend that those had to be just gas.

Hanging out with Daddy

Brynn hung out on the couch with Daddy after he got home from work. She loves to be held and just look around.

Playmat

Brynn is becoming more alert and is doing really well focusing her eyes. This morning she laid on her playmat for quite a while and even tried to grab the whale that was hanging above her.

Benson, of course, had to join in on the action. He was pretty good about being careful, although he told me a couple of times that he was going to sit on Brynn.

Benson really liked the starfish that hangs on the playmat and said, "Touch the butt," when he saw it because the starfish on Finding Nemo says that when Nemo touches the boat. I'm always surprised at how much he remembers. Last night Mark took him swimming, and Benson said he needed his "cars." A few weeks ago, he saw his cars life jacket in his closet, and I told him that it was for swimming. I was impressed that he remembered our conversation and associated it with what he was about to do.

One more funny story that doesn't have any pictures to go along with it- Benson and I have been working on potty training, and he got a new chart that he gets to put stickers on whenever he uses the restroom on the potty. He's really excited about it, so I asked him if he would like to wear big boy underwear instead of diapers. He said yes, and I asked him what kind of underwear he wanted. After thinking about it for a minute, he said, "Um... pink."

Growing

I can't believe how fast Brynn is growing. She's already outgrown all of her newborn clothes, and even some of the 0-3 month clothes are getting kind of tight. I wanted to take a picture of her every month with the same stuffed animal to show how much she's growing, but I forgot to get a newborn picture. So here she is at a month (technically almost a month and a half, but who's counting?) with her stuffed elephant:

Buzz cut

Mark somehow convinced me to let him cut Benson's hair last night. The last time he did it, Bensom ended up with a serious rattail and missing one sideburn. Mark assured me that if he used clippers the haircut would come out better this time.

Mark wanted to buzz it, but I told him to just use the clippers on the back of his hair where it was too long and then fade it. The first swipe with the clippers, Mark went all the way to the top of Benson's hair and said he "forgot" that he was only supposed to cut the bottom part. So then we were committed to a buzz cut. Mark thinks it looks awesome. I'm not so sure.

Benson loves looking at his new 'do in the mirror. When you ask him where his hair is, he says "all gone." But when Daddy said he was bald, Benson informed him that there's still "a little bit." Even with a buzz cut, he's still pretty cute.

Sidenote: I told Mark that I'm now officially in charge on Benson's hair. We're growing it out, and home haircuts are now banned in the Sparrow household. And I already miss how soft his hair was. I tried taping it back on, but it didn't work too well. :)

FYI...

Two kids is a lot more than one. I've been falling behind on everything, including taking pictures and posting on the blog. Mark can attest to the fact that the laundry has officially overtaken our entire living room. However, we are all doing great. Brynn is growing like crazy, and we even went to playgroup yesterday so that Benson could have a little time out of the house. It was really cold outside, so playgroup was at the Science Spectrum. Benson had a great time and Brynn slept until it was time to leave. Right now they're both taking naps, and I'm going to try to catch a quick nap too before the craziness starts up again. Despite the chaos, I love having two kids, especially considering that they're the cutest two kids that ever lived.
