I spoke too soon...

So after making the post last night about how wonderful Benson was doing in his big boy bed, he had a horrible naptime today. He tore the pages out of about ten books after I put him down and went to take care of Brynn, and then he refused to stay in bed. I was not a happy camper, but Mark came home a little early, and we all went swimming, so everything turned out fine.

Also, I think I may have figured out the mystery of why Benson's hair has been looking so bad lately. This morning I was sweeping the floor and found a couple of tufts of blonde hair under his booster seat. Mark swears he didn't do it, so I'm thinking Benson must have gotten a hold of the scissors when i wasn't looking. It looks like we are officially in the terrible two's stage. Wish us luck.

Two of a Kind

Benson has loved Brynn from the moment he met her. I was really worried that he would get jealous of her or be mean to her, but besides the occassional, "Mom, Brynn's kicking me," while she's flailing her legs wildly in an attempt to get out of one of his hugs/smothers, he is so sweet to her. Today her told her, "Brynn, you're my best friend."

On St. Patrick's Day, I got them all dressed in green and we went to the Science Spectrum after eating cheerios with green milk (Benson thought the green milk was hilarious, by the way). I thought this progression of photographs was funny.

Big Boy Bed

Last week we decided that it was time we got Benson a big boy bed. Surprisingly, he actually never tried to climb out of his crib, which I can't believe because he's such a curious kid, but we figured it was time and that he would really like sleeping in a real bed. We got him a car bed, and he loves it. Mark and Benson put it together on Thursday while I was at book club, and when I got home Mark asked me if I wanted to go check on him. When I went in, he was sleeping in his new bed and his room was spotless, so I got two surprises. Mark said Benson was super excited about the bed and kept singing the clean up song because he knew that he had to get his room totally clean before they put his new bed in.

He is doing great in it. I was really worried that he would get up during the night or not stay in his bed during naptime, but he's been really good about staying in bed and going to sleep. In the mornings, I'll hear him talking and go in and check on him, and he's always sitting in bed reading and waiting for me to come get him up. I feel like he's so much older now, and it makes me a little sad that he's not a baby anymore, but he's such a fun little boy. Here he is showing off his new car bed. And by the way, he is wearing Cars underwear, has a Cars nightlight and cd player, and uses a Cars blanket at night. Sorry about the shadow- I was trying to get a shot of the whole bed and this is the best I could do.

P.S. I don't know what is up with Benson's hair in this picture- it's been kind of weird lately. I think the hair dresser cut his hair weird last time we went in.

Bow

A girl from church has been teaching me to make bows for Brynn. I am usually terrible at crafts, but the bows are actually looking okay. (Well to me at least.) Here are my first two:

Expanding with Ellie

Okay, so I'm really late (again) putting up Brynn's 3 months growth picture with her elephant. I can't believe how fast she's growing. She is really good at holding her head up and is getting closer to sitting by herself. She also laughs, smiles, and talks all the time. Benson gets so excited when she talks, and says, "Brynn's talking, Mommy!" He also really likes when she laughs, but now if she starts crying (especially if it's because of something he did to her), he'll say, "Brynn's okay, Brynn's happy."

Coming soon...

We had family pictures taken on Saturday, and the photographer e-mailed me the proofs tonight. They turned out really cute, and I am sooo excited to get them up on the blog (hence the reason I'm posting this at 1 a.m. instead of sleeping).
